Sam Mun Tsai Pier
Background
Sam Mun Tsai Pier was built in 1970s, located in Tai Po District. The existing pier is severely limited in space and water depth for adequate berthing of vessels. The landing steps and catwalk are also very narrow for use.
The pier is located within Shuen Wan Typhoon Shelter in a stable marine environment. There is a Yim Tin Tsai Fish Culture Zone near the pier.
The pier has very high usage and marine traffic, with over hundred boats observed in the vicinity of the pier. The numbers of tourists to the area have been increasing as it provides access to Ma Shi Chau Nature Trail of the Geopark.
Pier Improvement
We have consulted the relevant stakeholders and formulated appropriate improvements to the pier in response to local needs.
